A Man Who Shaped the Modern World


Dennis MacAlistair Ritchie who was born in 9th September 1941 was found dead on 12th October 2011. He is considered one of the few people who dared to shape the digital era. He is the founder of C programming language(1970s). And also co-founded the original UNIX operating system along with his long-time colleague, Ken Thompson.

In 1983, Ritchie and Thompson received Turing Award for developing theory of generic operating system. Turing Award is considered a highest honour in the field of IT. That is not all, he achieved many more awards.

It was reported that he had several health issues recently prior to his death.
